Back on the Bandwagon

Well...after sending out tons of queries I have some news. I, of course, had the rejections but I also got a partial and a full request so far! I've never had two out at one time and that's pretty darn cool. I don't sit here thinking about them either. If it happens then it does but I don't want to be upset either. I just send them out and work on other things. I don't make it a big deal because it hurts when the rejection comes. Anyway, just wanted to update everyone.

Finally submitting again

I haven't sent out a query in a few months and I finally got on the ball. I started with re-editing my historical novel. That seemed to take forever and I was quite surprised at all the mistakes I found. My computer also got a virus that erased all my stories on the computer and when I saved them on a thumb drive. I had to do some serious damage control to rescue it. The formatting was all jacked up and that took time to get it all sorted out. Next, I changed my query letter and synopsis. I made a fresh list of agents and off I went. So far 3 rejections but whose counting?

Happy October

One of my favorite holidays is coming!! I love Halloween. My son's 8th birthday is also coming up and a few days. My babies aren't babies anymore.
On the other hand, my life has calmed down some. I'm getting my school work done and today is my last time and then break. I return on the 11th which is my son's birthday. I can't wait to have the break. I can focus on writing and pulling this crazy story together. I've for a few pages written but I'm always so busy. It's time to get started though. Any hoo, just wanted to wish everyone a happy October!

Writer's block, new stories, and life

I used to keep up with my blog better but of course life gets in the way. It all started with a nasty case of writer's block. Well... really it started with all the rejections I was getting when I thought I would have more bites. Then I got a bad virus on my computer which erased my thumb drive as well just to make sure it got my story. I've also been busy with work, taking care of the kids, going to school, scrapping to make extra money. My hubby's band was born and has since lost its drummer. I just got over from being really sick and having to go to the hospital twice. I've stopped going to absolutewrite, which was one of my favorite sites. All my writing buddies have since gotten agents and book deals and I'm still at the beginning. I feel so left out that I stopped. I just got really down that I couldn't even write. I credit my husband of making things better for me. He gave me a really good novel idea that made my fingers itch. I found myself wanting to write again!!! So that's the good news. I'm writing a fresh story and letting the others sit awhile. I can always go back. Writing is truly a talent that not everyone has. It is one of the hardest jobs there is and no one can say different. Not just anyone can sit down and write a whole story and get it out to the world. Congrats to everyone that has.

The Dreaded Writer's Block

I haven't been able to write in such a long time. I've sat here for weeks and months watching as my fellow writers get book deals, and agents, and requests. I wrote my historical and expected it to be perfect and it wasn't. I have so much work ahead of me and I feel overwhelmed. So much that I can't write. I've since started 4 other stories that are in various stages. Probably junk. I know I got a lot of work to do and I wish I could get back to work but I just don't know where to began. I've lost the excitement that writing has brought me for 20 years and it scares me. I once thought I would die if I couldn't write anymore but not so much anymore. The light is growing smaller and I want it back. I'm going to make a deal with myself that I hope helps. Sit down and write for at least an hour at first. I'll work my way up and reward myself with something new. I rarely ever do that. I need to hit the research again and learn everything I can about the time period and writing in general. I can do this.

Rejections and WIP update

Well my partial request turned into a helpful rejection. I'm not upset but happy that I got feedback. I'm already on it and I also have beta readers looking at it. I've also started rewriting it so I hope it'll be a lot better. I love my historical novel and it deserves to be out there getting read. We'll see what happens.

New Projects etc...

Well... I'm so busy at the current time. School is still in progress. I'm planning my daughter's 10th birthday and trying to get a job. I have one full out on the historical novel. The new news is that I'm going to start querying my older projects again. I gave up so long ago on them but I miss them. I haven't opened any of them since I trunked them but they are so fun and such great stories. I don't know what is going to happen but I will keep the blog updated as time goes on and the rejections and requests come in.

Update

It's been months since I wrote something. Well I'm still in Ohio and will be for a little while. I've started the dreaded query process and I've gotten back a few rejections and one partial request. Not as much as I expected but I know this can be a long process. I'm prepared for that. I have learned not to read into it too much when someone asks for a partial or a full. I just forget about it and send out more.

Historical Novel Finished

I finished the historical novel and had a beta reader go over it. I had to make many changes but nothing that made me want to tear my hair out. I saved that for the query letter that is kicking my butt. Just thinking about the synopsis is killing me. The tears are forming in my eyes as I type this. I hope this book will take me somewhere.

Still nothing about my full yet. I nudge but heard nothing back yet.

Back in business

I finally got my computer and internet running again so now I'm back. It's been awhile since I updated my blog so let me see... Still moving in the next few weeks. No news about my full yet which is now 8 months old. I nudged a few months back but not sure if I should do it again.I've been working on the edits to the historical novel, finishing a stalled one, and working on one in progress. School is going great again. I got a little sidetracked for awhile. Well that's it for now. I plan on finishing the edits for the historical and posting the query letter up within the next few weeks, I hope.

Need to update you all

It's been some time since I've written a decent post. Not saying this one is going to be better but I thought I would update everyone. Still don't have a new computer and won't until income tax. Still waiting on those darn W2 papers. I waiting. The writing is on hold. I finished a semester at school and failed one class because I got lazy and then my computer died. Started another class, which I like. My stepdaughter was just adopted out with her grandma and things are getting better between her and my husband. Instead of moving to Tampa we are moving to St. Pete which is still close by. My last day at work was Monday and I'm so excited. These next few weeks are going to be such a whirlwind and I have all these emotions going through me. I'm excited, nervous, and scared. My school is helping me to find a job before I go down so that's neat. I can't wait to see a different place. My mother is not dealing with this the way I wish she would. Making snide remarks and saying that we'll fail down there and be right back here. Things like that. I know we can do this and we are going to make this work as a family. Next moth we will be down in Florida! On the writing front, nothing from any outstanding queries or the full out. Well I'm sure I'll have much more to say in the upcoming weeks.

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year everyone. Mine started off with my computer dying. Can't get another one yet and it's killing me. I was luck enough to back up all my stories but I'm afraid I lost a lot of things. I can't wait to get it to the shop. Well this is going to be short but wanted to let everyone know the plan on moving to Tampa is still on a roll. Next month we'll be there.
